In 2014 Oreo South Africa brings fans a local twist on the global, award winning “Daily Twist” campaign. Now, SA fans can relish in the brand’s playful imagination as locally relevant news and culture are brought to life through the eyes of milk’s favourite biscuit. During the launch phase, followers can even win their own exclusive, personalised ‘Oreo Momento’.
In 2012 Oreo USA proved that the then 100 year old biscuit was still as modern and relevant as ever, by re-imagining USA pop culture through Oreo depictions; a wonderful example of ‘culture-jacking’. Running daily for 100 days, US Oreo fans enjoyed ‘today’s news’ as it came to life with the humorous Oreo representations. The highly acclaimed global campaign walked away with over 13 highly esteemed awards including 3 CLIO awards and 4 Cannes Lions including the overall Cannes Grand Prix.
Now local fans can also experience SA’s own home-grown ‘Oreo Twists’ as the biscuit will capture newsworthy moments relevant to South Africans in witty, Oreo-inspired pop art. Each crafty design will feature recreations of the biscuit’s iconic visuals representing pertinent pop culture news, milestones or celebrations taking place locally.
The ‘Oreo Twists’ will be showcased on the trendy Oreo Facebook page (www.facebook.com/Oreo) where followers will also have the opportunity to win their very own personal ‘Oreo Twist’. To enter fans need to share their best ‘sweet moment’ – besides eating Oreos of course – on the Oreo Facebook page competition post.
The best ‘sweet moment’ wins an exclusive momento designed especially for them, together with a year supply of milk’s favourite biscuit. A valid entry requires fans to share the post and add their moment as a comment; it could be an engagement story, a son’s first steps or a memorable road trip with their besties.
