In celebration of Woman’s month, Dulux, part of the world’s number one paint company, AkzoNobel, recently staged its first ever DIY Bootcamp in association with morning magazine programme, Expresso. Guests were treated to a jam-packed agenda which included interior trends, inspirational colour advice, paint techniques, fabulous goody bags, as well as a lucky draw.
While the bootcamp was hosted by Melanie Ewing of Chapters Interior Design, famous faces from Expresso including Ewan Strydom and Dulux’s Bennum van Jaarsveld, were also on-hand to guide the day’s proceedings.
“It was great to see the interaction between the attendees and just how much they enjoyed themselves. This was a great opportunity for us to showcase the practical side of paint and demonstrate how to use colour and paint in conjunction with different DIY techniques, says Dulux communications manager, Bennum van Jaarsveld.
“I think it was a fantastic morning and everybody enjoyed themselves. This was such a great initiative between Dulux, Chapters and Expresso because we could bring all of our knowledge together and really offer people the chance to experience paint, craft and DIY. Often we’re very afraid of using paint because we think we might get it wrong or feel incapable of DIY, and this was an excellent opportunity to show people how easy it really is and how you can bring your own individual style to things,” adds Ewing.
There can be no doubt that the first ever Dulux DIY Bootcamp was a great success. As attendee, Marijke Stottelaar concludes, “I must say I really enjoyed the trends. It was very interesting to see what’s going to be coming in, and the fact that the warm metals are going to be coming back in makes me very excited.”
